This week, the American Trucking Associations’ Moving and Storage Conference will host the first-ever Rogue Operators Enforcement Summit with the goal of increasing collaboration between industry and law enforcement to combat the spread of rogue movers.

“The Moving and Storage Conference is looking forward to hosting the first ever Rogue Operator Enforcement Summit which joins together industry, local law enforcement, state and federal agencies to collaborate, educate and develop solutions for how to address this growing problem,” said MSC Executive Director Katie McMichael. “In addition to partnering on potential solutions, we want to send a clear message that this industry will no longer tolerate criminals preying on consumers under the guise of being legitimate movers.”

Over the past two years, reports of rogue movers using deceptive pricing, extortion and hostage loads to take advantage of unsuspecting Americans. This summit will bring together members of the moving and storage industry, officials from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Federal Maritime Commission and Surface Transportation Board, as well as state and local officials to craft solutions to this growing threat.
